Our Story
Dogma was opened by Jerry Carter after he was unable to find quality products for his yellow Labrador, "Pebbles”. He knew that there was a need for a one-stop-shop specializing in the type of premium products that he wanted to provide for his precious K9 friend. Jerry opened the first Dogma in the Newport Coast Shopping Center in 2002, and in 2004 he opened a second location in the Quail Hill Shopping Center in Irvine, CA.
In 2006, Jerry decided to sell Dogma to Martnel Bonacquisti who had been an animal lover since the day she was born. Martnel left the corporate world she had been in for 3 decades to live out her lifelong dream of spending her days with animals and the people who adore them. Martnel had been deeply involved in animal rescue for 25 years and brought extensive knowledge and experience in animal health, nutrition and behavior to Dogma.
Unfortunately, Dogma Irvine closed its doors at the end of 2017, but Dogma Newport is alive and well.
